Reading Rock Books has story time every Saturday morning at 10. This week we read “Stand Back,” Said the Elephant, “I’m Going to Sneeze!” by Patricia Thomas and Knuffle Bunny Too by Mo Willems.
Story time is a great Saturday morning activity to share with your children or grandchildren!

The Bible Salesman is set in the South in the 1950′s. Henry Dampier, a naive twenty-year-old hitchhiker and Bible salesman, is picked up by WWII veteran Preston Clearwater. Dampier soon finds himself involved in what he believes is an FBI stolen car recovery mission. Clearwater is actually a long-time criminal since his army days and is part of a car-theft ring, but convinces Dampier that he is an FBI agent in order to have someone to drive the stolen vehicles. Dampier loves the excitement of the “undercover operation” and the possibilities it could bring him–all while still selling Bibles on the side. While following Dampier’s adventure with Clearwater, Edgerton explains the events that led up to Dampier being raised by his Baptist Aunt Dorie and his Uncle Jack.
As with Edgerton’s book Raney, The Bible Salesman is at times a laugh-out-loud funny story of a young adult trying to make his way through life using his fundamentalist background to live the right way, all while questioning what he reads in the Bible and how it effects his decisions on work and love.
Clyde Edgerton will be reading from The Bible Salesman tonight on Thacker Mountain Radio.

J.otto Seibold, acclaimed illustrator of Olive, the Other Reindeer, and Siobhan Vivian have brought us Dagmar, a young vampire. Dagmar is a “gentle soul” and doesn’t do many “vampirey things.” Dagmar is, in fact, a vegetarian with a passion for candy. When a skeleton friend explains to Dagmar about Halloween, the young vampire must face his fear of humans to fulfill his need for unlimited, free candy.
Vunce Upon a Time is full of vibrant, highly-detailed illustrations. A great book for Halloween or any time your little one is facing something scary.
